Overview

No matter how young you feel, age and gravity can drag down your eyebrows to make you look old, tired, and angry. A plastic surgery procedure in San Diego, CA, known as browplasty, raises and evens out your forehead skin for a much more pleasing and youthful appearance. Also known as a forehead lift, brow lift surgery with traditional open or state-of-the-art endoscopic techniques can give you smoother skin and a more youthful look that can last up to 10 years.  A brow or forehead lift can be a complex plastic surgery, so you will want your brow lift done by a San Diego, CA plastic surgeon with considerable technical skill and experience in facial rejuvenating procedures. Triple board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Chaffoo has the experience and the expertise to help you safely achieve a more refreshed, energetic look at La Jolla Plastic Surgery.

Before Surgery

At your complimentary consultation, Dr. Chaffoo will evaluate important factors such as your age, the condition of the skin in the treatment area, hair distribution (pattern), and the bone structure underneath. Using this information, he will share with you the options for producing a more youthful appearance, and discuss in detail what to expect with a brow lift including:

  • Whether you would benefit most from an endoscopic brow lift or a traditional, open forehead lift
  • Surgical technique specific to your anatomy
  • The size and location of incisions
  • Recovery and risks associated with a brow lift

Surgical Technique

Dr. Chaffoo's approach allows for a shorter recovery with less bruising and numbness using small, remote incisions hidden in the hairline. The procedure takes just 1 – 2 hours, during which Dr. Chaffoo either eliminates or modifies brow lines by adjusting the muscle and tissue underneath, as well as lifting and securing drooping eyebrows.

Recovery

Most patients are fully recovered in just a few short weeks, although you should limit your exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light for several months following your brow lift and apply sunscreen liberally throughout the day. You will have bruising, swelling, and numbness that can be treated with cold packs. You should sleep on your back with your head elevated by several pillows for a week after your surgery to promote healing.

Results

The results of a brow lift can be visible right away, but full healing will take about 6 months as the inflammation subsides and the incisions heal. Your results will always make you look younger than you would without a brow lift, but natural aging and gravity will continue to affect your appearance.

Expected Costs

An endoscopic or traditional brow lift will usually cost between $6,950 – $9,000. At your initial consultation, Dr. Chaffoo will create a treatment plan based on your concerns and anatomy, which will help him better estimate your costs.
