Kybella™ Nonsurgical Neck Liposuction (Injectable Double Chin Reduction) - La Jolla, San Diego, CA*

35 Procedures ( View All )

Overview

Kybella is one of the most anticipated treatments to become available at La Jolla Plastic Surgery for San Diego County residents because double chins are such a common cosmetic concern. This area of fat (technically known as the submental area) is typically very stubborn, which is why even thin people can have a double chin. In the past, a surgical liposuction procedure was the only solution, but people can now choose injectable Kybella for nonsurgical submental fat reduction.

Kybella is made using a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid, which occurs naturally in the body and helps break down and absorb dietary fat. When it's injected in the area just below the chin, it destroys fat cells. Once the fat cells die, they are naturally flushed away by the body, leaving a smooth, trim contour. As a groundbreaking procedure, most patients have several questions about Kybella, so we encourage you to schedule a consultation with triple board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Chaffoo to learn more.

Procedure Technique

The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid which helps break down fat cells. When Kybella is injected below the chin, it will destroy the fat cells, and these cells will not be able to collect or store fat once destroyed. However, if the patient gains weight after a Kybella treatment, the remaining fat cells will expand for diminished results.
